Press Releases, also known as news releases, are excellent marketing tools for garnering interest in your company. Local media should definitely be included as they typically love stories involving local businesses. If you have created a good Press Release which is actually newsworthy, it is often published as is. It may also be used as a resource for a news article written by someone affiliated with the medium.

A Press Release can be based on a variety of different things. Some newsworthy events include receiving awards, creating a new website, expansion of the business, changing the vision of a company, introducing new products or local community involvement. When any of these things happen, you should use the opportunity to create a Press Release and garner some highly effective publicity. Other less traditional reasons to create a Press Release include when your company is offering something for free or if it is taking a stand on a controversial topic.

Positive news published about a local company immediately increases the image of that company. By using Press Releases whenever possible, your company will increase its visibility greatly. News carries much more weight with potential clients than an ad, as people know that an ad is paid for. News needs to be earned.
