Landing Pages
Attract, Prepare, and Create Customers
Landing pages are used extensively in online marketing and serve a very specific purpose: they prepare the visitor
to your site to hear your value proposition — your hard sell.
The landing page is often confused with the "squeeze page”"among internet marketers, but in fact the two techniques
are quite different. While the former is used to prepare, the latter is used to build a list of prospects.
Landing pages serve as a "gateway" to another page where the visitor will hear more about your product or service.
They introduce your company, capture attention and try to spark enough interest to motivate the prospective customer
to want to learn more. For this reason they tend to include more content and touch upon more ideas in an effort to
engage the reader. Landing pages do not attempt to collect contact information from the page visitor, they simply
set the stage for a selling opportunity.
Squeeze pages offer a much more direct approach than landing pages, with one aim in mind: to collect a person's
contact information for follow-up marketing efforts. The content of a squeeze page tends to be very brief and plain,
with simple text, few graphics (if any) and streamlined colors, so as not to distract the visitor from opting in.
The visitor may be offered a free gift in exchange for his contact information. In order for a squeeze page to be
effective, it cannot link to other pages until the prospect has opted into an email list.
Landing pages and squeeze pages both serve very useful purposes for website marketing. Landing pages engage the user
and offer an appealing message that will potentially lead to a click-through to the primary selling page. Squeeze
pages which are well constructed can convince as many as 50% of visitors to subscribe to a list — dramatically
increasing the chances of converting those subscribers into customers.
Both tools can provide powerful benefits as you work to optimize your website marketing opportunities.
