Lexie Fankhouser
Lexie is a Non-Profit Foundation Director, turned International Nomadic Hockey Wife, turned Creative Marketing Director. What’s the common theme, you might be wondering? That’s simple: She loves to support people, help them grow, and see dreams come true.
An Atlanta native, Lexie believe in cheese grits, tree-filled cities, and really good manners. And as a graduate from college and business school in Orlando, she also believes in day trips to the beach and Walt Disney, who said “All Dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” It was a mere 30 miles from Disney World, incidentally, where she met her husband to be, then a professional hockey player. Decision time! At graduation time, did our heroine follow the hockey player around the world, or take the MBA job? Ding ding! She chose door number one. (Whew… good thing, as that MBA job was smack in the middle of the ready-to-pop housing bubble.) She lived and loved the hockey wife life for 10 years in many strange and exciting lands, including Chicago, Denver, Germany, Austria, England, Toledo…. Well. Too many to list, really.
As you can imagine, it’s hard to establish a career when you move every few months, but this Nomadic Entrepreneur established Marketing Job Outposts in all of her hockey homes, thereby achieving a rich and varied marketing background in many segments of this world economy. She was a marketing assistant for school and municipal software packages, marketing coordinator for a raw, luxury land company, interim online marketing director for a local Boys & Girls Club, H&R Block Tax Preparer and jewelry-making teacher (we’ll call those “the marketing outliers”)… and several a shifts as a bartender (to stay relevant).
Throughout this adventure, Lexie was fortunate to find herself with a steady, underlying career in the form of a Director of a Private Foundation, made possible by telecommunication and very understanding co-Directors. She wore many hats—portfolio manager, grant coordinator and administrative executive. She’s remained active with the Foundation, even though, dear reader, our story took an interesting turn.
The professional hockey player “hung up the skates” as they say and began an ever-so-slightly more stable career coaching pro and junior hockey. This afforded Lexie two novel experiences: seeing a fire in their very own fireplace by staying home over the winter for the first time ever, and the chance to dive headfirst into a Marketing Career, as opposed to another marketing job. Lexie became the proud owner of a business card reading “Creative Director, MarketBlazer, Inc.”
As Creative Director, she designs the overall direction and oversees development of all content for Local Search, Mobile Media and Social Media Marketing for MarketBlazer’s clients. She devises and develops effective positioning and messaging, then see those messages delivered to potential clients in a strategic, engaging and compelling way across all relevant Online Properties. She combines fundamental MBA marketing methodologies with leading-edge technologies to deliver impactful return on investment. (That just means that she makes sure clients look as good online as they do in person to the people who need to know it most!) She’s also the author of “The Ins and Outs of Internet Marketing: Online Strategies that are In Line with your Real World Business,” available on Amazon.com.
(Want to know more? Lexie hates peas, automated phone messaging systems and cleaning out the sink drain. She loves making elaborate excel spreadsheets, traveling, relaxing with good wine ($2 Chuck qualifies), good food and good friends, and most of all adores her spectacular husband Scott and their hysterical, precious tiny humans, Isaac and Gabe. They love living in north Georgia, nestled in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains where they are a part of a growing, thriving community on the outskirts of Metro Atlanta. They are enjoying being in one place … for now!)
